The Church United
Hands at Work’s vision is to see the local Church in Africa united with the Church outside Africa in caring for the most vulnerable in the poorest of the poor communities in Africa. We believe God has created the world to be interdependent, meaning He relies on His Church to unite in bringing hope and healing to the broken, both in communities in Africa and communities outside Africa. This relationship, formed around collectively caring for the most vulnerable, serves as a vehicle that God can use to restore communities back to life, in wholeness and in purpose.
““I remember my first trip to Africa as if it was yesterday. Each one of us on the team left so impacted. Yes, we were impacted by what we saw and the children we met, but what really impacted us was thinking about what Jesus was calling us to do now that we had seen. God doesn’t need our wealth, riches or expertise, but He wants our heart, and He invites us towards him.” ”
The Church outside Africa can partner with Hands at Work in empowering and equipping the local Church in a community in Africa to strengthen and build resilience in vulnerable families. A partner can have a significant impact through committed, long-term alliance in service to this African-led ministry. Typically, Hands at Work fosters a relationship between a church or group of people and a community in Africa, giving opportunity to deepen personal relationships through visiting, advocating, praying and giving.
“I have seen this ministry have a profound effect on the discipleship of younger and older people, accelerating their exposure to the Father’s heart in ways that were unexpected and impacting. We may have thought we were helping the poor of Africa when we began this ministry partnership but the blessings that have been returned to the life of the church have been greater than anything we could have done for Africa.” ”
