Who We Are
To carry out this vision, God has called volunteers from many different countries to serve in Africa and also in Australia, Canada, Germany, the US and the UK. Hands at Work volunteers in each country give of their time, resources and passion to serve on behalf of those in need in Africa and to bring hope to the hopeless.
Hands at Work in Africa (Canada) Society is a collection of ordinary folk who found ourselves compelled by the work of Hands and deeply changed by it. We work jobs and have families and are scattered all across Canada, but our heart for Christ and the vulnerable children of Africa binds us together and compels us to seek ways to tell our stories and engage others in this transformative work.
We exist to foster a relationship between the international Church (Canada) and the Church in Africa by supporting the ministry of servanthood through the facilitation of short term teams, long term volunteers, community partnership, and supporting basic food health and education support to the poorest of the poor and the most vulnerable, all according to the Hands at Work community intervention model. We desire to lift the hands of the Church in Africa as they bring hope and healing to their broken, wounded communities and, in turn, bringing life, hope and healing to our own flawed and hungry church communities.
